I had a busy and interesting weekend. My husband and I moved, again! Our last move was from the mountains of western North Carolina to here in Lovell, quite a distance. This move was 8 blocks. The longer move necessitated better packing and moving everything at once in a hired moving van. We changed from Eastern Time to Mountain Time so we gained 2 hours in the deal! This time we didn’t need to pack as carefully and even unpacked boxes quickly and repacked them at the end when we ran short of boxes. We had a little parade of 3 pickup trucks and a trailer driving back and forth across town.

Whether your move is 8 blocks or across the country there are some similarities. You still have to pack everything up and then unpack it. Then, where do you put each item? And, why in the world did I move this instead of get rid of it? My favorite adjustment is finding the light switch, especially in the middle of the night when you wake up not sure where you are! The first thing I did was put up some nightlights.

We’ve survived the move itself and the first 2 nights in the new house, so I think it’ll get easier from here on. Sometimes moves are small like this one and sometimes more monumentous, but they’re all change and provide the opportunity for new attitudes and fresh starts! While change can be uncomfortable at first, it can be good, depending on the attitude you choose to have. This move was a great change!

About Jyl Duffy

I love being a REALTOR and Office Administrator for Johnson Home and Land. There's no place like home here in Wyoming. This is home even though I enjoyed living in Wisconsin, Minnesota and North Carolina previously. With my husband, Dave, when we're not busy working we enjoy our Christian activities and being out of doors fly fishing, camping, golfing or snow shoeing. Wyoming is the best place to be for our active outdoor lifestyle.
