New Year Resolutions

2009, a brand new year, a brand new start. We all enjoy a new beginning for it gives us hope, hope in the future, hope in being a better person.

Since it’s that time again I’ll make the mandatory resolutions, my annual “To Do” list. I’ll eat better, exercise more and lose 10 (well it should be 15) pounds! As we all know, these vague promises rarely come to fruition. Maybe if I get more specific and outline a plan in writing, I’ll be more committed to it. However, I recently read a more important idea.

Instead of the yearly “TO DO” list this New Year, I’ll plan a “TO BE” list. This year I I resolve: to be kind, to be peaceful, to be loving, to be patient with others and myself, and to be focused on what’s really important in the day. If each of us will pick a quality we admire in someone else, and emanate that quality, we will improve the quality of life in those we touch.

Oh, and I will still work on my To Do list…maybe…as soon as the candy bowl at work is empty.

About Jyl Duffy

I love being a REALTOR and Office Administrator for Johnson Home and Land. There's no place like home here in Wyoming. This is home even though I enjoyed living in Wisconsin, Minnesota and North Carolina previously. With my husband, Dave, when we're not busy working we enjoy our Christian activities and being out of doors fly fishing, camping, golfing or snow shoeing. Wyoming is the best place to be for our active outdoor lifestyle.

Ok Jyl….the candy bowl is almost empty. I agree that “to be” resolutions are the way to go. I don’t do the type of resolutions (like diets) where people blow it one day and just decide to forget the whole thing.

  2. Hey Jyl, I’m working on the candy bowl. I was stirring my tea with a candy cane on Friday wishing you were there to visit with!

I agree with Sarah and the “to be” resolutions are definitely and infinitely more important than the “to do” resolutions. If we all could develop a cheerier disposition, no matter what the day brings, or a kinder attitude towards ALL people, it definitely could make a difference in the lives we come in contact with. Thanks for the encouragement and good words to live by.
