Why is it that regardless of my great intentions, clutter happens at my house! The papers, especially, seem to multiply while we sleep. It’s amazing how this happens; I hope this is a universal problem.
I know “Getting Organized” is one of the top five resolutions people make every year so I can’t be alone in my “extra stuff” problem!
I’ll share a few tips I gleaned from a January 11 Billings Gazette article.
1) Start in 1 place and get rid of things 1 at a time. While I’d rather jump around and try to clean up everywhere at once in my cleaning mania, the advice is to stay in 1 room until it’s done before venturing elsewhere in your clutter cleaning rampage. Streamline and really focus on the Eastern concept of “less is more”.
2) Think creatively about your storage possibilities. Baskets can organize & neatly contain items in varius areas. Mittens & hats in the mudroom/entry area, bottles in the bathroom, spices or utensils in the kitchen, & accessories in the bedrooms are all kept contained by various sized baskets, boxes, etc. Before the container is overflowing, reassess the contents to see if the Clutter Bug has struck again! Appropriately sized containers can help discipline us to what goes where! When I do this, it works.
I’ll continue with a couple more ideas next week, but this is a good start on defeating the Clutter Bug.
