How often have you heard, “I never thought it would happen to me”? We always think it’s always going to be the other person when things go wrong. In one week I’ve had two reminders of just how precious and precarious life can be.
Last week my daughter’s two week old (new to you) car was totaled as she sat at a stop light. She and her friend escaped with minor bruises. We counted our blessings and proceeded to Cooke City, Montana where we camped for two nights in our favorite campground, Soda Butte Campground. It was a wonderful time for us all as we shared the beauty and wildlife of Yellowstone.
A week later a bear killed a man and injured two others overnight at the campground. One was located in our favorite campsite at the end of the line of sites which was already occupied when we were there.
Life is precious and should be enjoyed and shared to its fullest. I don’t believe in staying safely ensconced in a home fortress away from nature, but in respectfully and reasonably enjoying our beautiful world. “Seize the Day!”
