Christmas…Cookies and Other Fluff

Christmas is arriving very soon, whether we’re “ready” or not…it seems that happens every year, so why are we surprised?  If December 25 didn’t come as scheduled, if we could have it arrive when we’re “ready,” when would it come?  Would it ever get here?  These are interesting things to contemplate if you give yourself the time to take a break from the hustle bustle of whatever it is we do this time of year.

If you take the moment to evaluate what is really important to you this year, a lot of the fluff of the season will lose it’s importance.  Isn’t it interesting that we can know these things, but still don’t follow the concepts we know would bring us more peace.  Ah well, maybe next year.

This morning I spent 45 minutes looking through recipes.  No, nothing got baked, just my half baked ideas!  Any ideas for different Christmas cookies or pastries?  What are your favorites, traditional must have treats, or new items to try?  I’m looking for new ideas; maybe I’ll even get around to baking something new.

About Jyl Duffy

I love being a REALTOR and Office Administrator for Johnson Home and Land. There's no place like home here in Wyoming. This is home even though I enjoyed living in Wisconsin, Minnesota and North Carolina previously. With my husband, Dave, when we're not busy working we enjoy our Christian activities and being out of doors fly fishing, camping, golfing or snow shoeing. Wyoming is the best place to be for our active outdoor lifestyle.

I don’t bake much but I do have a new tradition. I do a prepare ahead breakfast casserole on Christmas Eve and pop in the oven first thing Christmas morning and it’s ready just in time for everyone to get something solid in their tummies before they start inhaling marshmallow Santas!
